Thinking about your first visit with an oral surgeon can feel intimidating, especially if you’ve never had dental surgery before. Rest assured that your initial consultation is simply a chance to meet your surgeon, ask questions, and come up with a plan for your treatment.
Dr. Slaughter knows his name may raise an eyebrow, but he’s here to break down the perception with honest conversations and meaningful connections.
How to Prepare
Bring The Essentials
Please bring your completed new patient forms, insurance card, driver's license, current medication list, and any referral details.
Plan to Arrive Early
Arriving a few minutes before your scheduled appointment time gives you time to get settled.
Have Your Questions Ready
Take note of any questions or concerns so we can make sure to address them during your visit.

What to Expect
When you arrive, our friendly front desk team will check you in and get you settled.
Our surgical assistant will bring you back to an exam room. If needed, we’ll take X-rays and review your medical history.
Dr. Slaughter will then join you for his exam, answer any questions, and collaborate with you on a plan for your treatment.
Once you and Dr. Slaughter feel great about the plan, we’ll review the estimated costs so that you have clear expectations up front, and then we can get you scheduled.
Prior to Treatment Day
- Make arrangements for someone to take you to and from your procedure.
- Drink plenty of water the day before your procedure.
- Avoid eating or drinking for 8 hours prior to your procedure.
- Read up on all of our pre-op instructions here.
- Take a deep breath! You can expect a smooth and comfortable experience.
